The images from Gioconda & August capture a suspended moment on Lake Como — a convergence of light, leisure, and latent narrative. Set against the timeless geography of northern Italy, the series distills the aesthetic sensibilities of the 1970s: natural light rendered in soft amber tones, textures of film grain, and a quiet fascination with the intimate gestures of everyday life. These photographs resist spectacle. They dwell instead in the intervals — between glance and reflection, between gesture and stillness. The lake, recurring as both subject and surface, mirrors a world observed rather than posed. There’s a perceptible warmth, a tactility, where water, linen, and skin seem to share the same tonal register.
